Terms of Use

Updated

These terms cover your use of sparkquote.ai: the pages, the free electrical calculators, the downloadable templates and the MCP server that lets AI assistants use the calculators (together, the "Services"). By using the Services you agree to them. If you don't agree, don't use the Services. The SparkQuote estimator is not open yet; it will come with its own terms when it does.

What the Services are

The calculators, charts and templates are free reference tools for electrical contractors, estimators and trade professionals. They follow the NEC 2023 (NFPA 70) under the assumptions each tool states. You don't need an account to use them.

Not professional advice

Results are code minimums under stated assumptions, not engineering, design or legal advice. They don't account for every condition on a real job, such as ambient temperature, conductor bundling, local amendments or the code edition your jurisdiction has adopted. You are responsible for checking every result against the adopted code, the equipment's listing and instructions, and the authority having jurisdiction. Electrical work should be done by qualified, licensed people.

Accuracy

We build and test the calculators carefully (see how we build our calculators), but we can't promise they are free of errors or always available. The Services are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement, to the extent the law allows.

Using the MCP server and AI assistants

You or your AI assistant may call the MCP server at https://sparkquote.ai/mcp without an account. An assistant can misread a question, choose the wrong inputs or restate a result incorrectly; check the inputs and the linked calculator page before relying on an answer. The assistant you use is provided by a third party under its own terms and privacy policy.

Acceptable use

Don't use the Services to break the law, to overload or disrupt the site or the MCP server, to get around rate limits or security measures, or to resell the calculators or their results as a service of your own. You may link to any page and cite results with a link to the page they came from.

Templates and content

You may download the templates, fill them in and use them in your own business, including sending them to your customers. Don't sell or redistribute the blank templates as your own. Other content on the site (text, charts, diagrams and code) belongs to SparkQuote; you may quote short excerpts with a link.

Early access and emails

If you join the early-access list or ask for a result by email, we use your email address as described in the privacy policy. Product descriptions and prices on the site describe software we are still building and may change before launch.

The site links to other websites, such as NFPA and manufacturers. We don't control them and aren't responsible for their content.

Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, SparkQuote is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for lost profits, lost data, rework, failed inspections or project delays arising from your use of the Services. Because the Services are free, our total liability for any claim relating to them is limited to US$100. Some jurisdictions don't allow these limits, so they may not apply to you in full.

Changes and availability

We may change, suspend or stop any part of the Services, and we may update these terms. When we do, we change the date at the top of this page. Continuing to use the Services after a change means you accept the updated terms.
