Privacy Policy
This policy covers sparkquote.ai: the marketing pages and the free electrical calculators. The SparkQuote estimator is not open yet; when it opens, this policy will be updated to cover accounts and uploaded plans before any are collected.
The short version
- You can use every page and calculator without an account, a name or an email address.
- We use PostHog to understand how the site is used. It records page views, clicks, calculator use and, for most visits, a session recording of what happens on the page.
- We don't sell personal information, run ads, or use advertising cookies.

What we collect
Usage analytics. When JavaScript is enabled, the site loads PostHog analytics after the page has finished loading. It records:
- Pages viewed, the referring page, how far you scroll, and how long you stay.
- Clicks on links and buttons, including which early-access and outbound links you click.
- Calculator use: which calculator you used, the values you entered in its numeric and option fields, and the summary result. Free-text fields (such as panel schedule circuit lists) are reduced to a line count; their text is not sent.
- Page performance (load time and similar web vitals) and errors logged by the browser console.
- Device and browser type, screen size, language, and your IP address, from which an approximate location (country and city) is derived.
Session recordings. PostHog records most visits as a replay of the page: mouse movement, clicks, scrolling and the page content you saw. Text typed into form fields is masked in recordings. Recordings are deleted after 30 days.
Hosting logs. The site is hosted on Vercel, which processes standard request data (IP address, user agent, requested URL, time) to serve pages and protect against abuse.
We do not collect your name, email address, payment details or plan files, because the site has no forms that ask for them.
Cookies and local storage
PostHog stores a random identifier in a first-party cookie and in your browser's local storage, so that page views from the same browser can be grouped into a visit. It does not identify you by name. There are no third-party advertising or social-media cookies on the site.
Why we use it
To see which pages and calculators are useful, find errors and slow pages, and decide what to build next. Where a law such as the GDPR applies, our basis is our legitimate interest in running and improving the site.
Who processes the data
- PostHog, Inc. (analytics and session recordings), using its United States cloud. Requests go through our own domain (sparkquote.ai/ingest) and are forwarded to PostHog.
- Vercel, Inc. (hosting).
Both act as our service providers. Data may be processed in the United States.
How to opt out
- Block cookies and local storage for sparkquote.ai in your browser, or use a content blocker that blocks analytics. The calculators keep working.
- Turn off JavaScript: every page and calculator still works, and no analytics are loaded.
- Email privacy@sparkquote.ai to ask us to delete data associated with your browser. Include the approximate date and time of your visit so we can find it.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR, UK GDPR or California's CCPA), you can ask to access, correct or delete personal information we hold, or object to its use. Send requests to privacy@sparkquote.ai. We don't sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
Children
The site is meant for electrical contractors and trade professionals and is not directed at children under 13.
Changes
We will update this page when what we collect changes, and change the date at the top.
