Esticom Alternative for Electrical Contractors

Updated October 6, 2026

Looking to log in? Esticom is now part of Procore; sign in through Procore.

Esticom was a cloud takeoff and estimating tool built for electrical and low-voltage contractors, founded in Austin, Texas in 2015. Procore acquired Esticom in October 2020, and it's now sold as Procore Estimating, part of the Procore construction platform. For contractors already running on Procore, that's an advantage. For electrical contractors who aren't, it's the main reason to look at an Esticom alternative.

Facts are from Procore's pages and review sites, checked September 28, 2026. Sources are listed at the end.

From Esticom to Procore Estimating

  • 2015: Esticom founded in Austin, Texas.
  • January 2017: commercial launch, aimed at electrical and low-voltage contractors, priced at the time from $150 a month per estimator. That price is historical and no longer current.
  • October 2020: Procore acquires Esticom; terms weren't disclosed.
  • Today: sold as Procore Estimating and marketed to general contractors and trades of all types. Software Advice lists electrical, plumbing, HVAC, fire and structured cabling among them.

Review listings on Capterra and Software Advice still use the Esticom name, and many of those reviews may predate the Procore integration. Read recent reviews first.

What Procore Estimating does well

  • Fast onboarding. A Software Advice reviewer says "anyone can get up and running in under 2 hrs."
  • Procore integration: estimate to budget to contract without re-entry; Capterra reviewers call out this tie-in.
  • Collaboration: multiple users on the same takeoff in real time.
  • Well-rated support: 4.6/5 on Software Advice.
  • Takeoff speed: reviewers describe large gains; one Software Advice reviewer cites "87% faster" takeoffs.

Why electrical contractors look for alternatives

  • You're not on Procore. Much of the value comes from the platform connection, and Procore contracts are priced for the platform.
  • Pricing. Some Capterra reviewers find it expensive, and it's bundled into Procore contracts; there's no public price.
  • Electrical depth. Software Advice reviewers mention limited per-line labor and margin customization, and a limited Canadian database.
  • Feels heavy. Some Capterra and Software Advice reviewers describe it as cluttered, with onboarding needed.
  • Gaps against specialists. Reviewers note gaps compared with specialist estimating tools, and limited CRM integrations.

Feature by feature

Takeoff. Procore Estimating does linear, area, count and 3D-model takeoffs with auto-mapping and plan overlay, and its AI detects floor plan areas and auto-counts repeated symbols. SparkQuote reads the drawing legend to count each electrical symbol type, and every detection is reviewed on the plan.

Database. Procore uses a cost catalog of items, assemblies and groups, with historical cost data. SparkQuote ships an electrical starter library you edit or replace.

Labor and margin. Procore lets you adjust material prices, labor units and margins, and handles alternates, change orders and budget codes. SparkQuote applies labor units by item and conditions by area, and compares estimated with actual hours after the job.

Supplier pricing. We didn't find a named supplier price-service integration on Procore's pages. SparkQuote imports price lists and supplier quotes.

Proposals and handoff. Procore generates customer-facing proposals from templates, creates bid packages through Procore Bidding, and pushes estimates to budgets, POs and prime contracts. SparkQuote produces the proposal and exports to Excel.

Low voltage. Esticom's roots are in electrical and low voltage, and Procore still covers structured cabling. SparkQuote handles low voltage estimating alongside electrical in the same job.

Contract. Procore sells annual contracts with unlimited users and unlimited data; estimating isn't priced separately on its pricing page. SparkQuote is priced monthly or annually, with a published price.

When Procore Estimating is the better choice

  • Your company already runs Procore for project management and financials.
  • You value estimate-to-budget handoff over a standalone estimating tool.
  • You want bid-board and project financial continuity more than a deep electrical-specific database.

When SparkQuote is the better choice

  • You want electrical-first estimating without adopting a full construction platform.
  • You want published, monthly pricing.
  • You're a small or mid-size electrical or low-voltage contractor.

Other alternatives to consider

  • STACK: cloud, multi-trade takeoff with a limited free version and a Procore integration.
  • PlanSwift: multi-trade takeoff as a Windows install with published annual pricing.
  • ConEst IntelliBid: electrical, low-voltage and datacom estimating with a large prebuilt database.

For a checklist that applies to any of them, see our guide to electrical estimating software.

Switching from Procore Estimating

  1. Export your estimates to Excel. Procore supports Excel export of estimates.
  2. List the cost catalog items and assemblies you actually use, and rebuild those first rather than everything.
  3. Import your price list and labor units into SparkQuote by CSV.
  4. Re-run a recent estimate and compare counts and totals.
  5. Check your Procore contract term. Estimating is part of the platform contract, so leaving estimating may not change what you pay until renewal.

Questions to ask Procore's sales team

  • Is estimating included in our current Procore contract, or is it an add-on?
  • Which AI takeoff features are included, and on which plans?
  • Can we customize labor and margin line by line?
  • Is there a database for our region, and how is material pricing kept current?

Frequently asked questions

What happened to Esticom?

Procore acquired Esticom in October 2020. It's now Procore Estimating, part of the Procore platform.

How much does Procore Estimating cost?

Procore doesn't publish prices; it sells annual contracts through sales, and estimating isn't priced separately on its pricing page. Esticom's launch price from 2017 is no longer current.

How do I log in to Esticom?

Esticom accounts now sign in through Procore. Use Procore's login page, or contact Procore support if your old Esticom credentials don't work. SparkQuote isn't connected to Procore accounts.

Is Procore Estimating good for electrical contractors?

It began as an electrical and low-voltage tool and still handles that work. Its biggest advantage is integration with the rest of Procore.

Is there a free trial of Procore Estimating?

Capterra lists a free 14-day trial; otherwise, contact Procore. SparkQuote has a free trial on your own plans with no sales call.
